Bruce Perry was born in the District of Columbia but grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. Bruce attended and graduated from UMBC in 1997 with degree in Psychology. He joined the UMBC Police Department in 1998. In 2000, Bruce was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was a patrol supervisor. In 2012 Bruce was promoted to Lieutenant and was the Operations Commander. In 2018 Bruce was promoted to Deputy Chief. In 2022, Bruce has been promoted to Acting Chief of Police.
